Who We Are
The DFL Seniors Caucus is a Community Caucus of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor party. The Minneapolis Area DFL Seniors Caucus is a local chapter of the statewide caucus, representing the members in Minneapolis and the nearby areas of the 5th Congressional District. Membership is open to seniors, people age 50 or older, either working or retired (or some of both), who support our Democratic-Farmer-Labor principles. (Our charter)
What We Do
We advocate for ourselves & other seniors and try to make sure our interests & issues are considered, both within the DFL Party and in state & local government bodies.
When We Do It
We have meetings once a month (except during summer), usually on the 2nd Saturday of the month. Events generally start around noon and last an hour or 2 (if we have a speaker). They are held at an accessible public building in the Minneapolis area. Much of our planning & efforts are done by committees -- they meet where & when their members choose. And we encourage our members to show up to influence public meetings -- we often send out emails reminding members or relevant public events.
Join us: come to a meeting -- new people are always welcome!
Become a member. Annual dues are $20 ($10 to us, $10 to the statewide caucus)
Who's in Charge
We're old enough to know that nobody's in charge but ourselves. But we chose the following officers to act for us:
Chair: Ken Vreeland
Vice Chair: Pat Kelly
Treasurer: Tim Bonham
Membership: Tony Scallon
